注吟slide down into vibrato
Pinyin: zhù yín
Vibrato and glidesSlide down (zhu) from above to the note and begin the yin the moment you arrive.
How it is played
The left finger starts above the position (toward the bridge) and passes from the downward slide into yin without stopping. The old handbooks mark it by adding the zhu sign (氵) to the yin character.
How it sounds
The note falls in from slightly above and then wavers, with a gently drooping, plaintive quality.
In the classical handbooks
卽如前說。譜上有氵字是也。Gist: As described above; shown by a 氵 on the character in the score.
隨注隨吟也。Gist: Yin following straight on zhu.
