再作play again
Pinyin: zài zuò
Terms and marksPlay the phrase or section just played once more, as written.
How it is played
Written after a phrase or section to say that the part just played is repeated, two passes in all. Zuo means one pass. Where the repeat starts is usually given separately: a 「 beside the starting jianzi marks a repeat “from 「”; returning to the head of the section is “from the top again”; three passes is “twice more”.
In the classical handbooks
再作也。照譜上文再作一遍,共二遍也。Gist: Zai zuo: play the preceding text of the score once more, two passes in all.
