略猱slight wide vibrato

Pinyin: lüè náo

Vibrato and glides

A short, fine but firm nao: strength within lightness.

How it is played

Only a very short, very fine touch of nao, but with the finger pressing firmly; keep moisture within the fineness, and crispness and looseness within the firmness.

How it sounds

A flash of vigorous tremor, clean and neat.

In the classical handbooks

細而堅實,細中有潤,堅中有脆,實中有鬆,則盡其妙矣。

Gist: Fine yet firm, with moisture in the fineness, crispness in the firmness and looseness in the solidity: then its art is complete.
