落指猱wide vibrato on landing

Pinyin: luò zhǐ náo

Vibrato and glides

Begin the nao the instant the left finger lands and the note sounds, tightly joined to the attack.

How it is played

The same principle as luo zhi yin: enter nao as the note sounds, without waiting for the ring; connected and compact, yet keeping a loose, crisp spring.

How it sounds

The attack carries a wide, strong rise and fall at once, compact and forceful.

In the classical handbooks

得音就猱,取其連貫緊接,而兼鬆脆。

Gist: Nao as soon as the note sounds, for continuity and tight connection, together with looseness and crispness.
