勾剔middle finger in and out
Pinyin: gōu tī
Right hand, compoundOn one string, the middle finger plucks gou then ti: in and out, two notes in a row, written as one character.
How it is played
After plucking inward (gou), the middle finger stays at the string and immediately flicks outward (ti); do not break and restart between the two notes.
How it sounds
The same note twice: gou full, ti clear and firm, a slight contrast in color between them.
In the classical handbooks
句剔也,同絃得兩聲連也。於此絃位宜用兩聲,先句後剔,連寫如此。Gist: Gou-ti: two notes joined on the same string. Where two notes are wanted at one string position, gou first and then ti, written together like this.
