绰吟slide up into vibrato
Pinyin: chuò yín
Vibrato and glidesSlide up (chuo) to the note and begin the yin the moment you arrive, the two in one motion.
How it is played
The left finger starts below the position and passes straight from the upward slide into yin without a pause. The old handbooks mark it by adding the chuo sign (卜) above the yin character.
How it sounds
The note slides in from below and immediately begins to waver; a soft attack with a lively ring.
In the classical handbooks
卽隨綽隨吟也。如譜字上有卜字是也。Gist: Yin following straight on chuo. Shown by a 卜 above the character in the score.
